Brian Edwards is a seasoned business and technology communications expert with strong skills in media relations, marketing and business development. He has the highly valuable ability to understand deeply technical topics and communicate them in a compelling manner to analysts and editors. An early adopter of new technology and practices, he has a wealth of knowledge about technology trends and frequently advises clients on how to use emerging social media tools to extend and strengthen their brands.
A former newspaper and magazine journalist, he is an outstanding writer of press releases, speeches, presentations, white papers, contributed articles and case studies. And working collaboratively with clients, he helps to deftly craft strong, effective messages. Brian has strong relationships with trade and business press reporters and bloggers. His ability to place stories in highly regarded technology and business publications as well as blogs has led to superior coverage and higher profiles for clients.
Prior to joining the McKenzie Worldwide team, Brian was a senior executive at high-tech public relations agency Waggener Edstrom where he led a 35-person team that served the Microsoft enterprise and developer business. During his six-year tenure with Waggener Edstrom, he conceived, pitched and executed a very positive, break-through front-page story in The Wall Street Journal that played a major role in changing the perception of Microsoft's enterprise solutions. Brian also worked on the Microsoft Security team where he gained a strong working knowledge of that segment.
During his work with SAP AG, he relocated to Germany, opening the agencyís first international office and providing direct strategic counsel and PR support to SAP board members including SAP Co-Founder Hasso Plattner and CEO Henning Kaggermann. He hired and managed the officeís 12-person agency team during his three-year tenure.
Additionally, Brian managed corporate marketing for GemStone Systems, an object-oriented database provider, and handled public relations and investor relations for System Industries, a Silicon Valley-based storage system manufacturer.
Brian holds a bachelorís degree in communications from California State University, Fullerton, and has completed many continuing education programs. He also has a strong working knowledge of the German language and culture.
